Confession of a Beautiholic

Product Name: e.l.f. All Over Color Stick
Colour: Pink Lemonade
Price: £1.50
Where to buy:
- Naturally illuminates for a healthy glow
- instantly soothes & conditions skin
Multi-pupose formula
Twist stick and apply to face, eyes and lip

I bought this because it was so cheap. I didn't know it can be used as a lipstick and an eyeshadow, I was just trying to find something for my cheeks. The color stick is very easy to apply on and use. It is like a big lipstick. There is also a scent as well like pink grapefruit. The lip also has a shimmer as well. As you can see there is a glow on my cheekbone and there is a noticeable pink colour. I just put a little bit on my cheek. The colour is very buildable if you want more on it.

So anyway, I tried putting it on my lips. It isn't very easy to just apply it directly to your lips since the lipstick is very big so you kind of have to put it on your fingers first and then apply it on your lips. It is actually very pigmented and it has a nice shimmer. I also tried it on my eyes and you have to apply it with your fingers. It is also very shimmery and pigmented on my eyes.

Rating: 10/10
I'm not sure if this smoothes or conditions my skin but my lips did feel moisturises. This is so cheap and it definitely is a multi-purpose stick. It depends on what colour you choose though but I think this colour works for the cheeks, lips and eyes. This is only £1.50 so I don't really have much to complain. This is good quality for what you are paying for. I wouldn't use this on my lips, cheeks and face at once though.

Product Name: Tone Correcting Powder
Price: £3.75
Where to buy:

Created a balanced and radiant complexion that is beautiful and healthy.
The lightweight formula evens out the skin tone and absorbs excess oil.
The sheer formula brightens and neutralizes the skin.

Blend the powder over entire face to brighten and even out the skin tone as well as neutralize any redness.

I've been trying to find a really good powder that is long lasting, removes the oil off my face and does not whiten my skin. I decided to try this powder out since it is suppose to even out your skin tone. I have got to say that I love this powder! This powder doesn't make my face white but it helps to maintain my true colour. It removes the oil off my face with a few sweep, it is quick and easy to apply on and non-messy. I like how this powder doesn't matte my skin so it looks cakey but it gives my face a natural glow. I think this powder is the long lasting compare to other powder I have used. I estimate 5-6 hours (that is long for me).

Rating: 9/10
I love this powder and I would recommend this to people who have redness on different part of their face or if they have oily skin like me that doesn't want to remove the glow on their skin but wants to make keep it natural looking.

Name: The Face Shop Lovely Me:Ex Angel Skin Make Up Base
Colour: 01 Green
Skin Type: All Skin Type
Price: £3.61
Where to buy: Ebay
Description: brightens skin with better tones

I'm trying to find a good primer but cheaper. I found this on ebay so I decided to give it a go since it was very cheap for a primer and the brand is quite good. I like how the packaging is a bottle which you squeeze the product out. I don't like the smell of the product. It smells of paste. I thought the texture will be quite thick but it is more liquid. The colour is obviously green. I thought the green would help to cover the redness on my skin (like green concealer).

                                          Before:                                                              After:

As you can see the base actually really made my face quite white. I'm not to bothered about that since I put foundation on after to add colour. It also got rid of the shine on my skin.

Rating: 8/10
I only got this recently so I have only used it once. I actually quite like it for now. My make-up lasted a fairly long time. I will do an update on this make-up base if there is anything I dislike about it in the future.

Product Name: e.l.f. Studio Blush
Colour: Peachy Keen
Price: £3.75
Where to buy:

- The soft sheer texture blends into the skin for a silky finish.
- Designed to be worn alone or layered for more depth.
- Highlight your complexion with a subtle healthy glow.
-Apply to the apples of the cheeks or any other area you wish to highlight.

The packaging is like a small powder pact with a small mirror inside. The texture is powder.
I really like this blusher! The colours show really well on my cheeks. There are many colours to choose from but I got Peachy Keen. Finally, I have found an orange sort of colour blusher. The blusher works well as a highlighter as well on the cheekbones. It has glitter on the blusher. I like how the colour is buildable on the cheeks as well.

- very cheap
- can be used as a highlighter
- very pigmented

- some may not like the glitter on the face
-the mirror is too small

Ratings: 9/10
I really like the blusher. It is one of my favourite blusher I have used. I like how it is pigmented and the colour is buildable. It is really easy to apply on with a powder brush as well. I would say the colour stays for 5-6 hours, it will fade thoughout the day. A very cute small package that you can put in your bag.

Name: Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack
Skin: All Type
Price: £18 - £20
Hi everyone!
Today, I am going to be reviewing a skincare. This is the Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack. This product is an upgraded version of the Laneige Water Sleeping Pack but it has an extra advantage which is it firms the skin.

As you can see the box packaging is wider than the normal water sleeping pack and shorter.

The container is similar as well but the texture is different. The Water Sleeping Pack is more runny and water based texture. This is a more gel thick type of texture. It is like out of date milk where you put it in the fridge and it becomes a solid sort of form type texture.

Before you apply this product there is some face massages instructions to do to make your face slimmer.

1. Try to release the muscle tension of head, forehead, eyes, cheeks, mouth, chin and neck.
2. Try to focus all your muscle on the nose tip and pause for 3 seconds.
3. Open your eyes as wide as you can and try to lift up the eyebrows. Open your mouth and try to pull down your nose tip. Pause for 3 seconds and relax face muscle.

(The directions says water sleeping pack but it really is firming sleeping pack)

- Use this weekly basis
- Use this on the neck as well
- apply before you go to bed

So did this product do what it says?
I actually really like this product! I think I'm going to buy this one rather then the water sleeping pack just because it does the same job plus it makes you face firm as well. I feel my face tightens when I put this product on. It feels like the Laneige Skin Refiner and water sleeping pack combined together to get this product.
My face was very soft the next day. My face did not feel oily but it felt balanced and moisturised. This product is perfect for all types of skin. If you have dry skin then this will help you store back the softness on your skin and make your face more moisturised. If you have oily skin (like me) your skin will tone down the oilyness since the texture is quite watery so the product is tricking your skin into thinking it has enough oil so will produce less. Don't really have anything bad to say about this product. The price is a bit high but it is worth the investment.

I was google searching online trying to find a clear mascara when someone stated "What is the point in clear mascara? They seem pointless!"
The reason why I was looking for clear mascara was because I have really oily eyelids and eyelashes. Non-waterproof Mascara seem to smudge really easily for me and I end up having panda eyes an hour later.
I need to use waterproof mascara (they smudge throughout the day though but not so much.) The worst with waterproof mascara is sometimes, even though I have use make-up remover to remove my make-up, the next morning, my eyes go black from the mascara. They are so hard to remove!

So here are the reasons why clear mascara was made:
1) For people whose eyes smudges easily
2) To condition the eyelashes and then apply black mascara
3) For people who has lengthy eyelashes that wants a more natural approach. I find putting on mascara then curling eyelashes makes them look longer

Clear Mascara                                                             Black Mascara

My Verdicts:
When trying to prove the worthiness of clear mascara, it was very difficult. I actually have to say, I prefer black mascara. The thing with clear mascara is my eyelashes didn't stay up when I curled them. I had to put the clear mascara then curl it and quickly take a phto of them before they fall down. This "photo" results is bias. With Black Mascara, the lasting power was longer and my eyelashes looks fuller as well. I just realise that mascara can become a really thin line of eyeliner as well when you brush your eyelashes inner your eyes. Anyway, the clear mascara is very natural and I think it is great for the lower eyelashes but I think I will stick with my black mascara.

Product: Maybelline SuperStay 24H
Description: Micro-flex Stretch Formula Non-Transer 24HR Makeup SPF19
Colour: 021 Nude
Coverage: Medium to Full
Price: £6-£10

Boots were doing a 3 for 2 in Maybelline products so I got this foundation. I love using foundation which are long lasting. I wanted to give this a go since the product description claims that it lasts 24HR. I don't really keep my make-up that long or sleep with my make-up on so I did a test for 8-9 hours.

The product comes with a pump with a lid and the container is glass.

The texture is liquid. So I did a test to see if the foundation will last for 24 hours.

My face does not have a matte look anymore. It has become a bit shiny. The after photo makes my face looks like a healthy glow but my T-zone was quite shiny when lights were shining on my face. I think it is just because of my skin type.  I was actually very impressed with the coverage though since it was long lasting.

- lasting coverage
- easy to spread on
- foundation is buildable

- not suitable for oily skin
- might feel a bit thick on the face
Rating: 7/10
I actually quite like this foundation for it's long lasting effect. The foundation covered my blemishes. However, my face got a bit oily at the T-zone area. I still need to find a foundation with a long lasting matte finish.

Saturday, 6 October 2012

Hi everyone.

You know how products always say they are long lasting for like a certain hour or so? I wanted to see if my make-up will last all day.
Some of the products I use do not have a description stating how long it will last but if they are good products they should last quite long (right?)

So anyway, here is picture of me after doing my make-up:

After 8-9 hours.........................

Products used are:

- L'oreal Studio Secret Smoothing Primer - Don't think this had lasting power since my face looks oily but it did make it easier to apply make-up on.
- e.l.f. Corrective Concealer - my face doesn't look so read
- e.l.f. Coverage Concealer - eyes looks baggy but it could be because of the mascara
- Maybelline Superstay 24hr Foundation - I am impressed that my face does look flawless but my face seems to get shiny (this could be the powder problem)
- e.l.f. Makeup Seal & Lock - This product is good! My eye make-up seems to have lasted
- e.l.f Shimmering Palette - I thought creamy blush tends to be waterproof and last longer and it is still there.
- Coastal Scents Eyeshadows - the colours lighten abit but it is still noticable
- e.l.f Shadow and liner Stick - Can still see abit white at the lower line of the eye.
- Collection 2000 gel Eyeliner - Can still see my eyeliner really well! Don't know if it's this or because of the e.l.f Makeup & Lock
- Bourjois Volume Clubbing Waterproof  - I forgot to curl my eyelashes so can't really see in the photos but they seem to have made my eyes seem dark at the bottom
- e.l.f Blush - Don't really see much colour on my face
- e.l.f high definition powder - I don't think this is long lasting at all.
- e.l.f lip balm lipstick - faded really quickly

My thoughts
This isn't a really good test to see if the products last long or not since it might be other factors influencing it that caused it to stay e.g. primer made my foundation stay longer. I was just doing this for fun to see how long my make-up would last and what I look like afterwards. My face looks greasy and shiny in the first after picture (I guess it is the light shining on me) but it looks ok on the second photo (no light shining on my face)

I should never take camera photos with the light on since my face looks super oily!
Thanks for reading.

Product: e.l.f. Powder Brush
Price: £3.75
Where to buy:
"This Taklon brush can be used with wet or dry products. Be a professional makeup artist and create a flawless look with this e.l.f. studio brush.
- Creates a professional sculpted look
-Full coverage color
-Use with powder or blush for perfect contouring
Hi Everyone!
I have finally got my e.l.f. make-up products and I will be reviewing them all! I got £25 off so this was actually cheaper then £3.75 (around £2.15)
Anyway, I was recommended to buy this powder brush and I have got to say their brush quality is very good! I normally go for quite expensive brushes because in my past experience, the cheap ones didn't last or was really rough on the skin. This is actually my first brush that I got that is so cheap and is such good quality. Normally, the brush I get is not soft but feels rough on the skin but this was really soft on my skin (I keep brushing it on my face because it is so soft!
I am very pleased with my product. Another problem I have with brushes is that after a few wash, the  brush starts coming out and it becomes less soft but I will update it in future time.
Rating: 10/10
I rate this 10 out of 10 just now. I used it with a powder and it sweep on nicely on to my skin as well. It is very gentle on this skin. This is like maybe 4 times cheaper then MAC. I would definitely recommend people to give this Powder Brush a go!

Product Name: Bourjois Paris Depuis 1863 Little Round Pot Blush
Colour: 95 Rose De Jaspe
Price: £6-8
Where to buy: Boots/Superdrugs

This packaging is similar  to the eyeshadow pot. It comes with a mirror and a brush. The brush is poor quality so I would not recommend using it. The pot contain is small and it has a magnet to close the pact.

As you can see the blusher is very pigmented. It gives a very nice highlight to the cheek as well. What I like about this blusher is that it does not have any glitter on it to highlight the skin.

  • Very pigmented blusher
  • many different shades to choose from
  • not glittery
  • expensive for a small pot blush
  • small quantity, can finish easily with regular use
 Rating: 7/10
A very cute packaging and the blusher comes out to be a really nice colour but it is a bit expensive for such a small pot. It doesn't make the skin look shiny which is perfect for oily skin and it gives a matte finish. This is a splurge so it is kind of a one of buy. I would buy something else.

Product Name: So Matte Perfect Stay Pressed Powder
Description: "8hrs shine control for an all day natural matte finish"
Price: £3.09
Colours: Medium (3 to choose from)
Where to buy: Superdrug UK

This is my 3rd powder I have got. I bought the Rimmel powder first but it made my skin really dull. I used the Laneige Sliding Pact for a while but it is a bit pricey and difficult to get and it made my face look really white and didn't have much oil control.

I decided to try this powder. The packaging is a normal sort of compact package. The lid is very secure. It comes with a really cheap sponge though. There is also a mirror inside.

                                          Before:                                                        After:

I really like this powder. It was better then I expected. As you can see my t-zone is quite oily on the before picture and it is totally matte on the after picture. I am not sure if this will last for 8 hours yet but I will do a post again to confirm if it does or not. The coverage is very light and it is buildable.

  • matte the face
  • very cheap for a powder
  • good for oily skin
  • Sponge provide is bad
  • not much colour to choose from
Rating: 8/10
This product was better then I expected. I didn't expect much from Miss Sporty. This product is very cheap as well. I think this product will last me a while before I need to get another powder pact. Unfortunately, you cannot get this from other countries apart from UK.  I will consider putting it in my giveaway for people to try it.

This didn't last for me unfortunately :(. My face was shiny again. I think this will be best for combination skin more.

Re-rating: 6/10

I guess I won't be using this since it doesn't last on my skin. I will need to search for another powder

Product Name: Maybellline Pure Blush Mineral Powder Blush
 Price: £3
Colour: 10 Topaz Rose
Skin Type: All but perfect for combination/oily skin
Where to buy: Ebay (stopped selling in UK)

I bought this product ages ago and there is still plenty left. You aren't suppose to keep make-up for a long time but I use mines until they are finished or when it looks unusable. This product is still usable. As you can see this comes a big plastic small jar. This product is quite messy. I tap the mineral blusher on the lid and use that on my face.

I really like this blusher. As you can see, it is very pigmented on my left cheek (right cheek on the photo) and it creates an illuminating affect as well. This works well as a highlighter and blusher. I normally don't like glittery products because it makes my pores look huge but this product doesn't have that affect even though there are noticeable glitters on it.

  • The packaging is big for a blusher so it is long lasting
  • This can also be a highlighter for the skin creating a healthy glow
  • It is very pigmented
  • The blusher is buildable
  •  Hard to purchase nowadays
  • some people might not like the glitter
  • doesn't last long

Rating: 9/10
It was actually hard to think of the disadvantages for this. I think this product stopped selling was because there is a huge quantity so people takes forever to finish it (as well as other competition in the market and other make-up items become popular). I wish they would get this back on the market. I love this blusher. It was my first blusher I got and I am very please with it.

Product Name: Bourjois Light Round Pot Light Eyeshadow 01
Price: £6-£8
Where to buy: UK Superdrug/Boots
Shades: 01
Hi everyone,

It has been a while since I have posted. Time flies really fast. I really want to make this a daily thing as well but things just seem to be getting in the way.

Superdrug was doing a 3 for 2 Bourjois product so I bought 3 Bourjois product. I love Bourjois packaging. It kind of reminds me a bit of Etude House. There is a small mirror that comes with the eyeshadow pact.

I've been trying to get white/shimmery eye products for my tear dots and lower waterline. I really like this eyeshadow since it was very natural and it was pigmented as well. The product is also long lasting as well.

I applied the eyeshadow on my tear drop and lower eyes. (The shimmer on my eyelid is another eyeshadow)

- it is long lasting as long as you don't rub your eyes
- the eyeshadow is pigmented with one stroke
- you can use it to highlight your brow bones

- a bit expensive for a small pot
- can easily be finished if used regularly.

Rating: 7/10
I do love this eyeshadow but it is quite expensive for one shade even though it is very good quality. The packaging is too small. They should make it a bit bigger. I think I will continue to search for an alternative which is a bit cheaper and as good quality but in the main time, I will still continue to use this eyeshadow.
